Bible Theme Park UPDATE
An e-mail sent from state Representative Donna Rowland indicates T-DOT or the Tennessee Department of Transportation, has approved a plan submitted by developers for the Bible Theme Park. The e-mail, which you can read on our website…wgnsradio.com, says a plan for a roadway across state Route 840 near Manson Pike in Blackman. No plans for the Bible Theme Park have been submitted to county planning or commission officials.
(E-mail from Representative Donna Rowland)
Dear Friends:
Many of you have asked in passing for any update on the proposed Bible Theme Park. I promised to keep you informed as new information was provided to me.
I was recently copied on a letter dated 1/17/08 from TDOT to Mr. Bar-Tur. The letter acknowledged receipt of the concept drawing providing access to the proposed Bible Park USA. In the letter, TDOT states that, based on the conceptual drawing, it would be able to permit the construction of a roadway across State Route 840 in the vicinity of Manson Pike.
Should you need additional information on the status of this project, if any information is available, the local planning department or county commission may have be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Donna Rowland

[...] in Murfreesboro passed this along. The proposed Bible Theme Park in the Blackman community takes another step behind the scenes [...]

I think the community Blackman should be more informed in current processes and not left “behind the scenes” especially from a State Representative. As a resident of this area, I am alarmed that most in this area would not know what is going on. It seems like they are trying to sneak in a very bad idea.

The traffic will be horrendous around this park — every scrap of land within three miles will turn into a souvenir shop with Jesus dancing on the cross.
Rutherford county is offering tax incentives for this to be located here. The city will supply security for this “entertainment venue” (meaning a contingent of city paid law officers inside and around the park.)
1) why should I have to help pay for this thing — can we not learn from Nashville with the arena and football field. if this is a good idea why aren’t a bunch of other cities vying for it?
2) Why in this particular area — they did look at other areas — (i suppose it has to be close to the city so that the city can annex it for the taxe revenue)
3) What happens to my quality of life when I put up with another 3500 cars a day in a around Murfreesboro - and the additional carnival spectacle created in hawikng pieces of the Shroud of Turin.
4) What happens in three years when this thing dies? Opryland appealed to a very broad spectrum of people — with something for everyone — this appeals to an ever shrinking (at least that’s what i’m told) Christian contingent, who will be appaled at the crass commercialism of Christ on the Crucifix.

The theme park would work wonderfully on the far west side of Nashville, west of Bellevue. Around exit 186 and 182 there is an abundance of beautiful rolling hills and lots of opportunity for growth. Rather than having to try to fit into an existing ‘neighborhood’ the theme park would be able to define their own boundaries. Also, exit 182 is just 20 minutes from downtown Nashville. It would also be near the 840 / I 40 intersections, so would still be easily accessible. Let’s make it happen!

Bring it to Lebanon! Plenty of land available, 840 and I-40 nearby, 20 minutes from the airport and about 30 minutes from downtown Nashville.
Lebanon could use something like this to bring life back into its sleepy little town.
