Row Houses + Retail Space Across From MTSU

The proposed development of more row-type town houses near the university along with almost 10,000 square feet of retail space is closer to becoming a reality.  On Wednesday night (5/7/08)  the Murfreesboro Planning Commission recommended approval of forty-four homes and retail space 3.18 acres of land along Middle Tennessee Boulevard at East Main Street.  It now goes to the Murfreesboro City Council.  That three reading process starts with a public hearing.  That date has not been set at this time.  Regent Mainstreet President David McGowan indicated that East Main Village will include only two-story row-house styled home.  Each would have two-bedrooms and a two-car garage.  The retail area is to be constructed behind the residential area and reportedly would not be visible from Middle Tennessee Boulevard.  City Planning Director Joseph Aydelott indicated that the proposal contained more parking than was required by city codes.  The complex target tenants are university students.
