Bankruptcy Trustee Sues Investors
There’s a bizarre twist in the case of the late Robert W. McLean who reportedly scammed $50-million from investors. The federal bankruptcy trustee is suing some of the investors. You heard correctly, those who received interest payments for non-secured loans they made with McLean are getting slapped with a lawsuit! Trustee Bob Waldschmit has sued those 55 investors for $11.4 million. That supposedly is the amount of interest money McLean paid those investors. The bankruptcy trustee is also seeking the return of donations to the Country Music Hall of Fame and the half-million dollars given to MTSU. Many of those being sued have lost everything, and this twist has them outraged. Two high profile investors, a local retired surgeon along with a venture capitalist vow to fight this in court. By the way, there are more than 130 claims totaling almost $70-million filed against McLean’s bankrupt estate. As you recall, 60-year old Robert W. McLean took his life behind his Shelbyville church last Fall.
