Drowning at Center Hill

On Center Hill Lake in DeKalb County, a 44-year old woman drowned to death. Sherry Mathis from Woodbury, was on a pontoon boat this past weekend when she fell overboard. The drowning occurred just bef ore midnight on Friday. Relatives on the boat jumped in to save Mathis but after pulling her body aboard, CPR did not revive her. The case is under investigation by the TWRA and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department.

The death of Mathis marks the first drowning victim of the year at Center Hill Lake.
